Health Education / Risk Reduction

Help HIV-negative & HIV-positive persons at high risk:

  • Risk reduction techniques
  • Address the psychosocial and medical needs that contribute to risk behavior or poor health concerns.

(1) Provision of information including information dissemination about medical and psychosocial support services and counseling or (2) preparation/distribution of materials in the context of medical and psychosocial support services to educate clients with HIV about methods to reduce the spread of HIV. In general, outreach efforts are directed to groups of people or are conducted in order to identify those individuals who may become eligible for individual services. FOR RESOURCE CENTER USE ONLY.

Examples: Referrals, outreach efforts, walk-ins, telephone calls, speaking engagements, literature distribution and resource guides.

The life expectancy of a person living with HIV has improved dramatically over recent years.
